Stamps Hosts Third Annual D++ Design Salon
The Stamps School of Art & Design will be hosting its third annual D++ Design Salon on October 26th – 28th, 2018. For two days a dozen invited guests from varied disciplines will join members of the Stamps design faculty at the Inn on Ferry Street in Midtown Detroit.
The Salon offers an intimate setting that brings together critical thinkers, do-ers, and makers from different fields to examine the implications of a thorny set of topics. This year the salon will address the intersections of design, speculation, and activism.
The participants represent the fields anthropology, arts activism, ethics, future studies, informatics, product design, digital media, design criticism, interaction design, cultural studies, urban planning, and more.
Unlike a conference or symposium, the salon is meant to provoke informal conversations across disciplines in a safe environment for conjecture, confusion, and speculation. The outcomes of the salon will be made available to the public through audio recordings and a salon website in early 2019.
