Sixteen sculptures created by Bill Barrett (B.S.Des. 1958; M.S.Des. 1959) are featured in Visual Poetry: Bill Barrett Sculpture, a year-long exhibition at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden through May 14th, 2017. As his first major exhibition in a botanical garden setting, Visual Poetry represents an impressive milestone in an already highly extensive exhibition record and celebrated career.

Barrett’s featured sculptures have been designed through abstractions in aluminum, steel, bronze and marble over a forty-year period. The inspirations for each piece come from eclectic sources, including the 911 attacks, modern dance, musical influences, the panoply of human emotions, and nature’s richness. His work evokes a private and thoughtful conversation within the viewer, inviting them to translate the meaning of each work in order to complete the narrative between the artwork and the viewer.
