Help Stamps students gain the skills and experiences to build successful creative careers.
Getting started in a creative career can be scary and challenging. How do new graduates find out about internships and employment opportunities? What’s the workday like in different roles and organizations? What career path might be the right fit for a student’s particular set of skills and interests?
This Giving Tuesday — December 1, 2026 — come together with the Stamps community to provide support for Stamps Career Trek, a professional development program that helps students find the answers to these questions and lay the groundwork for their future. In Stamps Career Trek events, students connect with creative professionals and alumni, experience workplace cultures firsthand, and explore a wide variety of career paths. Career Treks range from day trips in Michigan to longer excursions in creative capitals like Los Angeles and New York.
During U‑M’s most recent Spring Break, the Stamps Student Life team brought 20 Stamps students on the first-ever Chicago Creative Futures Tour, a Career Trek to Chicago, Illinois. With stops at institutions like the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), MNML, One Design, and Spudnik Press; and tours from Stamps alumni working at Pinterest (Emma Killeen) and McDonalds Global HQ (Victor Garcia); the goal of the outing was to connect Stamps students to innovative companies that hire creatives, helping them build networking skills and learn what it means to work in the “professional world.”
Students found the experience empowering, with reactions like, “This has been one of my most unique college experiences and I am beyond grateful to have been able to attend,” “It was great being surrounded by a diverse group of people with similar career goals,” and “Just having the opportunity to speak with professionals in many different creative industries was helpful …it was very valuable being able to speak with them openly about any questions we might have both creatively and professionally.”

Giving Tuesday is an international day dedicated to charitable giving, observed on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It brings people together to support important causes and make a difference in their communities. As the holiday season approaches, Giving Tuesday serves as a reminder of the power we have to help others and foster positive change.
Established in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement, motivating millions to unite in support of charitable organizations and initiatives. After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday shifts the focus to the true meaning of the season: compassion and kindness.
At the University of Michigan, opportunities will include matching challenges for featured projects and additional chances for participating programs to get an additional financial boost. Donation pages go live at midnight on Tuesday, December 1 and remain active until 11:59 p.m.
