Razi Jafri Joins NPR as Senior Editor of Visual Features

Razi Jafri

Stamps alum Razi Jafri (MFA 22) was recently named Senior Editor of Visual Features at NPR. In this new role, Jafri will help shape and produce longform visual storytelling across NPR platforms, working closely with journalists, filmmakers, and artists to bring urgent, beautifully crafted stories to national audiences.

Based in Detroit, Jafri brings a documentary filmmaking background to NPR, with a focus on stories exploring identity, faith, race, and belonging in America. Since graduating from Stamps, he has produced two acclaimed films: Three Chaplains (2023), a documentary about Muslim military chaplains and they navigate threats of Islamophobia and challenges to religious freedom; and Rouge (2024), a powerful coming-of-age film about a high school basketball team in the metro Detroit community of River Rouge.
