Patrick Hanenberger: Production Designer on Upcoming Films "The Lunar Chronicles" and "High in the Clouds"

Stamps alumnus Patrick Hanenberger (BFA ​’02) is bringing imaginative worlds to life as the production designer for Warner Bros.’ upcoming animated adaptation of The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. The film, focusing on a futuristic fairy tale universe, will be directed by Noëlle Raffaele, and will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2028. 

Hanenberger also recently served as production designer for Paul McCartney’s animated feature film High in the Clouds, continuing a career defined by visionary worldbuilding and cinematic storytelling.

High in the Clouds is an upcoming animated musical adventure comedy film directed by Toby Genkel and written by Jon Croker. It is based on the novel of the same name by Paul McCartney, Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh, produced by Gaumont Animation and distributed by Gaumont. The film stars Himesh Patel, Celine Dion, Hannah Waddingham, Paul McCartney, Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, Ringo Starr, Jimmy Fallon, Clémence Poésy, Pom Klementieff and Alain Chabat.

From concept to screen, Hanenberger’s work demonstrates the power of design to shape immersive narratives and expansive visual universes.
