Nora Venturelli Featured in Northville Art House Exhibition

Nora Venturelli Vice Versa No25

Stamps Lecturer Nora Venturelli is featured in NATURAL FORMS: Figurative and Landscape Works a new exhibition at Northville Art House. This exhibition features figurative and landscape drawings and paintings by Venturelli, Ann Kelly, and Fran Wolok inspired by human dynamics, animal forms, and natural scenery.

Nora Venturelli of Ann Arbor has a BFA from the University of Michigan and a MFA from Eastern Michigan University. She is currently a Lecturer II at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design where she teaches drawing and painting. Venturelli is captivated by human dynamics — how people move, communicate, interact, and present themselves. Her mixed media paintings from the Vice Versa series, a selection of which will be on view, reveal the layers and intricacies of the human form as well as human character.

The title of the series reflects the morphing of my drawing into painting with the objective that my painting manifest the same gestural and linear characteristics of my drawing, and vice versa,” describes Venturelli.

With over forty years of award-winning art experience, Ann Kelly of West Bloomfield captures human and natural subjects using charcoal, pastel, and watercolor. Her work reflects the appreciation of nature’s fleeting design whether found in a distinguished facial expression or a play of light across a river.

Fran Wolok of Bloomfield studied at the Avni School of Art in Israel before she earned a BFA in Industrial Design from Wayne State University. She captures the transient effects of light and color on natural forms. She adds calligraphic brushstrokes to depict nature’s subtleties and tweaks the composition to guide the viewers’ eye in and around her acrylic and oil landscapes.

NATURAL FORMS opens with a free public reception on Friday, February 1 from 6 — 9 p.m. The exhibition runs through February 23 during Art House hours, Tuesday-Friday 12 – 5 p.m. and Saturday 12 – 4 p.m.

The Northville Art House is located at 215 W. Cady in Northville, MI. Learn more online at northvillearthouse.org.
