Nick Tobier: Brightmoor Bikes Featured

A&D Associate Professor Nick Tobier’s bamboo bike trailer project is one of 5 projects being supported by Kiva, an international organization for new enterprises. The hand-built, custom-designed trailers are designed to turn bicycles in Detroit into anything from utility vehicles to portable sound systems. Brightmoor Bikes is a partnership with Detroit Community School in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit. Kiva support will enable part time summer employment for Detroit Community School students to work on rolling out the first trailers to the neighborhood and beyond. On June 29, Brightmmor Bikes was featured in a Detroit Free Press article, and on June 30, Kiva Detroit officially launched at Detroit’s Eastern Market.
