Nicholas Williams & Riley Hanson Win 2015 Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout
Stamps students Nicholas Williams and Riley Hanson won first prize in the 2015 Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout with their film, Habitable Zones.
The 4th annual Ypsi 24 Hour Film Shootout invited filmmakers from Southeast Michigan to try to produce a short film in 24 hours, competing for $2,400 in cash awards.
The Shootout is a 24-hour time frame. Each registrant is allowed to assemble a team and crew. At the start of the Shootout several “ingredients” are announced to all teams. Each video had to contain the line “That’s not what I had in mind”, have either a candle or a flashlight, and have a public sculpture. These “ingredients” are a wild card in the production, forcing the teams to think on their feet and not rely heavily on pre-planned scripts or material.
This year’s contest took place from 10 am on October 3 — 10 am on October 4, and the winners were announced on Friday, October 9, 2015.
