Melanie Manos Exhibits at Hellenic Museum of Michigan
Janie Paul Collegiate Lecturer Melanie Manos is a selected artist of the Greek diaspora exhibiting in Odyssey of Colors, on view through October 12 at the Hellenic Museum of Michigan in Detroit.
Manos’ colorful digital prints reconfigure performative actions into multiplied forms, generating playful, patterned imagery across the compositional field. Through self-portraiture, the work interrogates the relationship between individual subjectivity and societal frameworks, exploring how the self is continually defined, constrained, and reimagined within cultural structures. Manos is the granddaughter of Greek and Macedonian immigrants who settled in Detroit where they raised families and built restaurant and bakery businesses.
The Odyssey of Colors exhibition offers visitors a multifaceted experience that honors the enduring legacy of Hellenic culture. The museum is located at 67 E. Kirby, directly across from the Detroit Institute of Arts.
