John and Susanne Stephenson Studio: Complete Collection Unveiled

On October 10 and 11 from 12 – 4 p.m., the Ann Arbor home and studio of EMU Professor Emeritus Susanne Stephenson and her late husband, U‑M Stamps Professor Emeritus John Stephenson (19292015) will be open to the public for a celebratory viewing of the complete collection of work by both artists. Decades of work, including John’s unique sculptural forms and augers and Susanne’s gestural vases, bowls, and wall plates, will be displayed throughout the studio, gallery, and sculpture garden in a celebration that will feature refreshments, informational tours, and presentations. Learn more about the Stephensons, their practice, and the plans for this event in a September 18 profile by Natalia Holtzman for Concentrate Media.

The studio’s gallery will also be open during the two-day event, with Intertwined — a fibers and metal exhibit of work by Katie Shulman (Stamps Assistant Director of Fundraising Programs, BFA 10) and Dennis Nahabetian — on view. The artists will be present for a meet and greet on Saturday, October 11 at 2pm.
