Jim Cogswell Participates in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Exhibition
In August, Stamps Professor Jim Cogswell participated in Heiwa to Bijutsu to Ongaku (Peace, Art, Music), a group exhibition and performance event held for Hiroshima Peace Memorial Day, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, August 6, 1945.
Hiroshima’s Bank of Japan Building was one of the few structures left standing in Hiroshima after the bombing. In 2000, it was designated an Important Cultural Property and is presently operated as a historical learning space and space for cultural and art events.
Cogswell contributed Catastrophe and Great Tree, Ancient Tears, two multi-panel paintings on fabric, to the exhibition.
