RED: Aggression, Passion, and Fire
The human body was a central inspiration for much of my early work, but then my interest turned to nature. With this series, I am again drawn to the human body; however, this time I’m exploring our interior lives — particularly our emotions. Passion, aggression, desire, anger, love, fury, euphoria, despair, grief, misery, rejection, and hope: These are all part of the tumultuous experience called life. When I try and visualize emotions, I see red. Red is the color of the blood pulsing through our veins and arteries. Red is the color of the heart, whose rate is often affected by emotions and is bursting with feelings like passion, caring, euphoria, and love, as well as rage, anger, and aggression, Red is the color of raging fire, a fire that can be found within us. The color red is powerful and seductive. So RED this show is.
