Born in Chicago in 1936, Malinowski decided to pursue photography during his second year of college. He had a great admiration for women who, subsequently became his favorite subject. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1961 where he served as a military policeman, he returned to college and started shooting editorial feature assignments and covers for Playboy Magazine. I brought some slides to Playboy, asked if I could return to show more and a month later walked away with my first assignment,” explains Malinowski.

In 1976 he received a call from Vogue Magazine’s art director, Rochelle Udell. Months later he was shooting full spreads for the iconic fashion publication which led to assignments with Bazaar Italia, its French counterpart, Amica, an Italian fashion magazine among others. Malinowski has also worked with some of fashion’s most notable names including Vogue fashion editor Anna Wintour, the designer Valentino and cosmetics company Clinique.
