Endi Poskovic Exhibits at Des Moines Art Center
Associate Professor Endi Poskovic is featured in Kill Them Before They Multiply, on display at the Des Moines Art Center through October 3rd.
Curated by Amy N. Worthen, Curator of Prints and Drawings, Kill Them Before They Multiply presents a selection of works that comment on untrammeled growth and excess. The exhibition’s title is inspired by the multiplying and subdividing creatures found in dreams, mythology, the Bible, horror films, and arcade and video games. The phrase Kill Them Before They Multiply also has a dark side. It reminds us of the insidious call generated by hatreds and paranoias which – too often – have led to genocide. Many of the works in this exhibition are compelling because the artists have created the pictorial equivalents of excess. Form and content are merged. Images extend beyond the paper’s edges. Obsessively-repeated marks, endless sequences and patterns crowd the pictorial field. Images are composed with concentric and ramifying (branching) growth patterns. Most of the works express a sense of invasive movement.
