Emilia Javanica: “Beneath the Concrete”
A&D graduate student Emilia Javanica presents Beneath the Concrete: A visual theater dark comedy about disaster and the media, based on an actual earthquake that took place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on May 27, 2006.

Performances at the CAID Detroit, 5141 Rosa Parks Blvd. 48208: Friday, December 10 at 8pm, and Saturday, December 11 at 9pm, followed by a dj dance party of old-school Southeast Asian music and other tunes. $10 suggested donation — no one will be turned away for lack of funds. All ticket proceeds will be donated directly to Posko Tutungan, an independent organization in Yogyakarta, Indonesia working to help victims of the recent Mt. Merapi volcanic eruptions.
Images from the earthquake and other traditional and contemporary artwork from Indonesia will be displayed in the CAID gallery.
