Detroit Cultural Center Association Wins 2024 Bay Urban Visioning Award

On October 9, at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Detroit Cultural Center Association (DCCA) received the “Partners in Progress” Award at the 2024 Bay Urban Visioning Awards.
Recognized for its groundbreaking Cultural Center Planning Initiative (CCPI), the Detroit Cultural District Association is a nonprofit organization that represents 12 of Detroit’s arts, cultural, and educational organizations. By addressing climate adaptation, public space innovation, digital connectivity, and social inclusion, the initiative aims to create a more equitable, sustainable, and vibrant cultural hub in Detroit.
Stamps Associate Professor John Marshall and Cézanne Charles, co-founders of the collaborative studio rootoftwo, contributed to the project, developing a digital transformation strategy for the 83-acre Cultural Center. This strategy enhanced connectivity and access, fostered cross-institutional collaboration, drove programmatic innovation, and established a framework for data governance and technology adoption.
The award highlights Detroit’s leadership in culture-centered urban renewal and its ability to set a global standard for collaborative city planning.
