Design for Good: Aaron Wolk on Founding Bombas
After a decade in the agency world, Stamps alum Aaron Wolk (BFA ’03) was ready for a new challenge that would combine design, innovation, and social impact. That journey led him to co-found Bombas, a comfort-focused apparel brand with a mission to help those in need.
The idea sparked from a simple Facebook quote: Socks are the #1 most requested item in homeless shelters. Aaron and his team discovered that used socks cannot be accepted as donations for hygiene reasons. This realization led them to create a business that gives back: For every item purchased, the company donates a item of the same kind to those experiencing homelessness, addressing the need for essential clothing — especially socks — in shelters across the country.
Design remains central to Aaron’s work. He credits his time at Stamps with giving him a strong foundation in color theory, sketching, and creative problem-solving — skills he uses every day. “I still believe that beautiful things are really inspiring to people,” he says.

With Bombas, Aaron is proving that great design isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about creating something meaningful, impactful, and built to last.
