New video and sound work by Cooper Holoweski (BFA 2004) is on display in Dead Air, an exhibition opening Friday, May 12 at Brown University’s Cohen Gallery.
Dead Air is a group exhibition featuring works by Tony Bragg, Cooper Holoweski, Martin Smick and Ziyang Wu. Through sculpture, sound, animation and image this multi-media exhibition traces an evolution of consciousness from its primordial origins to colonial narratives and the navel gazing, tech-obsessed virtual reality of the present. Dead Air refers to a moment of time when a broadcast signal goes silent. This exhibition wonders whether it is time to let underlying static become a foundation for new narratives.
