The Big Ten Network, a news outlet dedicated to coverage of collegiate sports, recently broadcast a profile of Stamps professor Joe Trumpey and an eco-building he designed and erected with twenty University of Michigan students in his Green Building course during the spring and summer of 2018. Located on the Campus Farm, near U‑M’s Matthaei Botanical Gardens, the building is U‑M’s only 100% solar powered, natural building. The profile is scheduled to air during broadcast sporting events through August 2019.

As we’re trying to push towards carbon neutrality, we need more awareness and more creativity,” Trumpey says in his Big Ten interview. This is a place for us to have a conversation about sustainability, about carbon reduction. If we can grow a crop of students that are empowered and feel strong, I think we have a much better chance of reducing our carbon footprint.”
