Anna van Schaap: DIA Debut and Upcoming Solo Exhibition
Detroit-based fine artist Anna van Schaap (BFA ’10) will make her Detroit Institute of Arts debut in the museum’s annual Ofrendas exhibition, opening on September 27, 2025.
A part of the DIA’s public exhibitions and Día de Muertos Celebrations, the show pays honor to the dead by way of Artist and community-constructed Ofrendas altars. The exhibition will be on view through November 2, when it concludes with an artist talk at the Detroit Institute of Arts lecture hall at 2 p.m.
Following the DIA exhibit, van Schaap will open When The Wolf Comes Home, her third career solo exhibition, at The Gallery at Ideation Orange in Metro Detroit’s Hazel Park. The exhibition’s opening reception is on November 8, with the exhibition running through the end of December. The exhibition and residency will also feature two additional events, including an artist talk and panel on Women’s representation in the Arts, and an all-women’s mixer event meant to establish and strengthen relationships between women professionals in the area.
