Abigail Zrike and Rachel Dawson: Bicentennial Mural

Bicentenial Mural

Stamps Senior Abigail Zrike has been commissioned to paint a mural live on the Diag to celebrate the University of Michigan’s Bicentennial. Zrike, with fellow Stamps Senior Rachel Dawson, has been planning the design using historical records, images from the Bentley Historical Library, and written interviews from alumni. This art piece will be painted live on the Diag on Friday, April 14th at Springfest, a student-organized music festival. The overall goal of this mural is to highlight the themes of the Bicentennial and create a visual record of student experiences at Michigan through a student-driven art piece. The mural will showcase the past 200 years, the present, and the next 200 years through a collage style painting. After its creation, the piece will be placed on display in the Michigan Union or Michigan League.
