The School of Art & Design maintains faculty and graduate studio facilities off-campus at 1919 Green Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. This 33,000 square foot space accommodates the School’s faculty and graduate students in one building, with 66 private studios for all full-time faculty and graduate students; large shared working and meeting spaces; wood, metal, and multi-purpose shops; and a digital media studio.

Parking

The Ann Arbor Transit Authority (AATA) Park & Ride program provides free parking (no permit required) for visitors in U‑M Parking Lot NC-37, located directly in front of the Faculty and Graduate Studios and accessible from Green Road. This Google Map will take you to the parking lot entrance. Do not park in the areas marked as blue or gold parking unless you have a pass, as you will be ticketed. Accessible parking is available.


Driving Directions
From the North (Flint, Saginaw)

Take US-23 South to Exit 41 (Plymouth Road). Turn right off the exit onto Plymouth. Go approximately half a mile and turn left onto Green Road. The facility will be on your right about a quarter mile down the road at the University of Michigan transportation hub facility. Parking is free and open to the public.

From the South (Toledo)

Take US-23 North to Exit 41 (Plymouth Road). Turn left off the exit onto Plymouth. Go approximately half a mile and turn left onto Green Road. The facility will be on your right about a quarter mile down the road at the University of Michigan transportation hub facility. Parking is free and open to the public.

From the West (Chicago, Kalamazoo, Jackson)

Take I‑94 East to M‑14 East (towards Plymouth) to US-23 South (follow the signs carefully). From US- 23, take Exit 41 (Plymouth Road) and turn right. Go approximately half a mile and turn left onto Green Road. The facility will be on your right about a quarter mile down the road at the University of Michigan transportation hub facility. Parking is free and open to the public.

From the East (Windsor, Detroit, Airports)

Take I‑94 West to US-23 North (exit 180). From US-23, take Exit 41 (Plymouth Road). Turn left off the exit onto Plymouth. Go approximately half a mile and turn left onto Green Road. The facility will be on your right about a quarter mile down the road at the University of Michigan transportation hub facility. Parking is free and open to the public.


Public Transportation

Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) buses provide convenient transportation to and from the Park & Ride parking lot at 1919 Green Rd. AATA bus rides are free for U‑M faculty, staff, and students with a valid M‑Card; regular fare is $1.50.

  • AATA’s Route 23 (Plymouth) provides transportation between the Faculty and Graduate Studios (Green Rd Park & Ride stop) and central campus (U‑M Central Campus Transit Ctr stop) or downtown Ann Arbor (Blake Transit Center stop).
  • AATA’s Route 66 (Carpenter) provides transportation between the Faculty and Graduate Studios (Green Rd Park & Ride stop) and the Art & Architecture Building (Pierpont Commons stop).
