This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition LaToya Ruby Frazier: Flint is Family in Three Acts that brings together photographs from five years of research and collaboration between LaToya Ruby Frazier and two poets, activists, mothers and residents of Flint, Michigan, Shea Cobb and Amber Hasan. Flint Is Family In Three Acts (2016−2021) was developed by Frazier to advocate for access to clean and safe drinking water for all regardless of race, religion and economic status.
The Acts in LaToya Ruby Frazier: Flint is Family in Three Acts are being shown across three venues: Stamps Gallery (Act III) at University of Michigan, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University (Act II), and Flint Institute of Arts (Act I), for the first time in Michigan and the U.S.
LaToya Ruby Frazier: Flint is Family in Three Acts is on view at Stamps Gallery from September 3, 2022 – January 14, 2023.
