Freelance 3D Modeling and Animation

January 27, 2015

Graphic animation for a plant anatomy e-book content is needed.  Seeking an individual who can build graphics (provided) into a 2-dimentional diagram, and then to proceed with a three-dimensional figure that can be rotated at will by reader.  Also, constructing a series of steps that show the development of cell wall layers in plants at both microscopic level and molecular levels.  Other similar projects may follow during the spring of 2015.

Simpler projects will pay $200; more complex ones will pay up to $500.

$1000 Norma Gray College Scholarship

The $1000 Norma Gray College Scholarship for the Visual Arts is sponsored by the generosity of the Longfield Family Charitable Foundation and awarded annually to a *full-time Michigan resident attending a Michigan university or college.  This prestigious scholarship award honors Norma Gray and her passion and dedication to supporting the creative development of Michigan artists.  Norma is a highly accomplished award winning professional artist and a founding member of the Brighton Art Guild.

All applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 25.  All college undergraduate and graduate students who are full-time residents of the state of Michigan are eligible to apply for the Norma Gray Scholarship.  All applicants must complete and sign the official scholarship application and submit by the March 31, 2015 deadline.

Photographer Wanted

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is opening a restaurant in Ann Arbor in the Spring of 2015.  We are exploring a project that would involve creating great photography illuminating Ann Arbor’s culture, ideation, technology, human science and entrepreneurism – to be displayed on the walls of our new restaurant.

Compensation is $4,000.00; full & unlimited rights must be granted to Ruth’s Chris.  Project would involve up to 20 finished and edited images, selected by a committee.

Summer/Fall 2015 Design Fellowship Program

Chronicle Books is excited to accept submissions for the 2015 Summer/Fall session of our Design Fellowship program. Five fellowships are available in our Publishing Design, Marketing Design, Children’s Design, and Digital Publishing Design groups. These fellowships provide six months of hands-on experience to recent graduates interested in embarking on a career in book, package, or digital publishing design.
The five fellowship positions are:

  2 Publishing Fellows
  1 Children’s Fellow
  1 Marketing Fellow
  1 Digital Publishing Fellow

Submissions Due: March 2nd, 2015

2 Internships with the Soul Center

For 20 years, Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield has provided children with special needs the support, friendship and inclusion that they deserve. As these children become adults they face new challenges with limited opportunities to be active, productive and most importantly included members of society.  Soul Center intends on providing solutions to these challenges.

As part of the solution, we are looking for two college students to be interns at this program during the summer.  Those who are selected will gain experience facilitating creative exploration with people with a variety of cognitive and physical disabilities.  This model of a progressive art program, wherein artists work alongside artists with disabilities in a studio setting, started approximately 40 years ago.

To be considered for an internship at our pilot program please submit your resume and up to 8 images of your artwork along with a short introduction to who you are and why you are interested in working in the arts with people with developmental disabilities by May 1, 2015.

Product Design/Prototype/Development Intern

Alpha Information Systems, Inc. is seeking candidates that are interested in developing ideas into real-world products. The Intern will develop conceptual drawings/images/storyboards into designs for prototyping. Prototype design will be 3D-printable. Intern will field-test prototype for usability and effectiveness, and refine design accordingly. Once prototype is reliably functional, intern will get customer feedback/validation thru further field testing with real customers.

Educational Goals

Gain real experience in prototype development of an actual durable product

Further experience using 3D modeling software to develop prototype design

Gain experience working in a virtual space, remote from employer’s physical location

Further experience improving communication skills

Expected Outcomes

Understanding of the prototyping process from concept to customer validation

Development/production of high quality, 3D-printable designs

Graphic Artist/Designer for Wonderfool Productions

Outrageously fun creative graphic artist wanted to design fresh, original marketing materials to promote Ann Arbor town/gown public art events. Candidate should be capable of managing multiple design projects, from idea conception through product delivery. Possible innovative designs will be used on T-shirts, digital ads (billboards!), video marketing, novelty product labels, off-the-wall “business cards”, and other zany promotional event-related materials.

Photographers Wanted

The Center for Campus Involvemnet has an upcoming project titled Change Our World, a 4-day campaign geared to start the conversation among classmates, friends, student organizations and the like about how one can make an impact within the UM community, Ann Arbor, the state of Michigan, and the world.  Any action, big or small, can begin and continue the ripple effect of positive works within our community.  Join us to be inspired by acts of kindness and genuine passions, and to explore and discuss how YOU can work towards positive change beginning March 16th through March 19th!  As part of this campaign, we are organizing the Touching Strangers project

For this project we are seeking a few students who are proficient in photography/post-processing.

The tentative dates are as follows: March 9 - March 11. There will be a 1-1.5hr session in the morning (around 9.30am-11am) and 1-1.5hr session in the afternoon (around 2.30pm-4pm) held at various locations throughout campus. There will be a short briefing session where more details will be provided to photographers who come on board.

Call for Art, Women’s History Month Exhibit

In March, the Michigan League will be hosting a Women’s History Month Exhibit. As you may know, the League was originally the Women’s League in 1890 designed to foster social interaction and community among female students. We are hoping to honor that legacy through art and hope your work may do just that.

Any photographs, paintings, or drawings that somehow celebrates women is eligible for submission. Your art piece must be able to be hung from a wall by wire, etc. If you are interested in exhibiting your work, please fill out this form by Wednesday, February 18th. Also (as noted on the submission page), email pictures of your work to after submitting your form. We are limited on space, so we will accepted pieces as they come in if they align with the vision and goals of this exhibit. Early submission is suggested.
