Ways of Giving

Thank you for joining us in support of the culture-makers of tomorrow.

Annual Giving

Annual gifts are critical in meeting the immediate needs of the Stamps School. Every gift is important and makes an impact in the area that is most important to you. Contributions to the Stamps Opportunity Fund are used to seed new programs, fund special student projects, internship opportunities, and support minor renovations. You can also make an annual gift designated towards one of the following areas:

  • Stamps Student Emergency Fund

Allows us to help art & design students who encounter unexpected emergencies during their degree program and those who are feeling the financial impacts of COVID-19. Whether it's to cover costs associated with housing, emergency travel, food expenses, technology access, medical and dental expenses, or other one-time unanticipated expenses, this fund helps our students in their greatest times of need.

  • Alumni and Friends Scholarship Fund

Provides an opportunity for donors to have an immediate impact on student support. Entering students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in high school or exceptional creative potential as evidenced by their portfolios can apply for scholarships from the Alumni and Friends Scholarship Fund.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund

Provides funding to students enrolled in any Stamps program to support them in professional and personal development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It also provides funding to the School’s programmatic efforts and activities aimed at developing an environment that strengthens the School’s commitment to DEI and adopts tangible, sustainable practices that are guided by our organizational mission and values. Gifts to this fund also support a variety of pre-college initiatives designed to encourage K-12 students to explore art and design. Initiatives and activities include summer camps, project-based learning experiences, field trips, and more.

  • International Initiatives Fund

The International Initiative Fund helps defray the cost of international travel for Stamps students. The Stamps School is the only School or College at the University that requires students to participate in an international experience. For students with financial need, scholarships are awarded to apply for their passports.

Additional Giving Opportunities

  • Endowments, Multiyear Pledges & Donor-Advised Funds

Endowed funds are an opportunity to establish a legacy at the Stamps School and ensure financial stability for designated areas of support. These types of funds allow the School an ability to provide art and design education to our students and plan for the future. Endowments and gift can be spread over a multiyear time period to allow donors to make larger commitments and fulfill them at a comfortable pace.

If you are interested in discussing a major gift or gift through a donor-advised fund, please contact Nan Pozios: 734-647-0650 or [email protected]

  • Planned Giving & Bequests

The road for the next generation of culture-makers is paved by the wisdom and support of those who came before them. Planned gifts of all sizes are a meaningful way to create a legacy, helping Stamps plan for its future while planning your own. From creating student scholarships to endowing professorships or given without restriction to best meet the needs of the future, your generosity and legacy will continue to create impact in art and design at the University of Michigan.

These gifts can also provide advantages such as lifetime income to the donor or others, possible tax benefits, and the opportunity for the entire campus community to recognize you now for your incredible commitment.

For more information about a planned gift to the Stamps School, including: bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and retirement plan gifts, please contact Nan Pozios: 734-647-0650 or [email protected].

  • Corporate Giving & Sponsored Projects

Everyday, the Stamps School's interdisciplinary focus benefits from being a part of one of the nation's leading research and higher-education institutions. Strategic giving opportunities provide corporate partners visibility on campus and access to fresh thinking and new possibilities that students are uniquely equipped to contribute.

We recognize that an important part of a rich learning experience is participating in projects with organizations who seek the benefit of art and design thinking and problem-solving processes. Stamps' studio courses and research frequently include real world projects, enabling our students to tackle meaningful design challenges. Our partners find that classroom-based research often generates innovative, unexpected solutions and client-sponsors are invigorated and challenged in new ways through their interaction with our students. For more information, please contact Nan Pozios: 734-647-0650 or [email protected].
