Photographers Wanted

The University of Michigan Law School seeks 3-6 student photographers and 2-3 student videographers for its team. Assignments will include shooting events, portraits, b-roll, and various other opportunities. Flexible schedule, part-time, two to 10 hours per week. Work study preferred, but not required. Must have good photography/videography skills, good eye, Photoshop skills, prompt with email and communication, and be detail oriented. Personable and people-skills also very helpful.

Job Requirements:

Previous experience photographing events and portraits and/or shooting and editing video. Please send a link to your portfolio or 3 to 5 samples of your work to Tish Holbrook

Student to manage U-M Diversity and Inclusion - Housing art programs

Diversity and Inclusion, a unit within University Housing, is seeking an intern to manage art programming in The ConnectorGraduate student is preferred but an undergraduate with appropriate experience will also be considered.

The Connector Art Intern would manage and support various educational programs, events, and initiatives related to art. This may include organizing projects, student competitions, calls for art/performances, and showcases, and coordinating with local, professional artists to display/purchase artwork.  All of this would be designed to create inspired experiences that lead to a broader understanding of diversity and inclusion in our University community and its connection to the art world.

Museum Docent Internship at Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit

Interns will have the opportunity to sharpen verbal and critical thinking skills, gain an in-depth knowledge of MOCAD exhibitions and practical experience in a wide range of museum related visitor service and engagement duties including: greeting visitors, monitoring the museum galleries, and engaging in dialogue with Museum visitors about about exhibitions and art history. Interns will also provide general Museum information to visitors and draw attention to upcoming exhibitions, programs, and events. Candidates must enjoy learning and speaking about contemporary art and be exceptionally friendly and outgoing.

Art Program Assistant (Work Study)

The Gifts of Art program has a work-study position available for an Art Program Assistant in the Communications area.  We are a dynamic arts and music program based in the University of Michigan Health System.  Gifts of Art includes nine art galleries, weekly performances, bedside music and art, a symphony orchestra and more. Communication responsibilities include publicizing exhibits and performances on a variety of platforms (web and print) and other graphic arts and arts administration activities.

Educational Value:

Provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day functions of a multifaceted arts program.  Education in communications, graphic arts, arts administration and the inclusion of arts in healthcare and related fields.  This is a great job for applicant with fine art, performing arts and public health interest.

Job Requirements:

Maturity level able to work in hospital setting, neat in appearance, detail oriented and well organized.  Basic office and Microsoft computer skills a must; writing, graphic arts (Adobe Creative Suite programs) and social media experience preferred.

Studio Art Intern at Farber Soul Center

- Soul Studio, the creative art half of Soul Center is based on an individualized approach - identifying a person’s interests and preferred processes of making, then gradually expanding on the knowledge of how those themes and processes can be combined. You will gain experience facilitating creative exploration with people with a variety of cognitive and physical disabilities. We are looking for artists with knowledge of various art making methods.

Caricature Artists Wanted

LaDawn Walton is looking to contract/hire two student caricature artists for a dinner reception to follow a vow renewal ceremony on Saturday,  May 21, 2016.  The time period we would require services would be 5:30-7:30 and we ask for the artists to arrive no later than 5:15pm to ensure ready to draw at stations by 5:30. The location is Journey of Faith Christian Church located in Ann Arbor, MI.

The artist(s) would need to provide their own supplies,  which would include paper for the guests to take home their pictures in and bags to protect their drawings.  The bags are negotiable but preferred. Compensation is $50 per hour.

Guest Lecture/Demo Opportunity

All Seasons of West Bloomfield, a high-end independent senior living facility in West Bloomfield, is seeking Stamps School students interested in offering lecture/demonstrations to its residents. 

We offer engaging activities, lectures, and concerts for our residents.  Lecture, demonstration, and course topics that we have provided for our seniors have included all majors, from Aeronautics to Zoology. Some of the lecturers and performers we have had here include: Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Naan Washburn of the New York Philharmonic, and Wendy Evans of the DIA, among many others. We would like to invite your students to facilitate an engaging demo, lecture, or class for our residents.

Gallery Attendants Needed for the Stamps School

The Stamps School of Art & Design is seeking part-time Gallery Attendants for open positions at the Work Ann Arbor exhibition space (306 S. State Street, Ann Arbor).  Duties include staffing the gallery during open exhibition hours, assisting with installing and de-installing exhibitions, and providing general gallery support.  Successful applicants will have good communications skills and a desire to work with the public; be highly responsible and able to work independently; and, have experience with, or aptitude for developing, a range of skills and tools essential for exhibition installation/de-installation.

Applicants must have work study awards, be available to begin working Tuesday September 8, and be available to work part or all of the following open shifts—Tuesdays, 11:30am-2:30pm; Wednesdays, 11:30am-3:30pm; Thursdays, 11:30am-2:30pm.

Stamps School Digital Lab Assistant

Assist the Digital Studio Coordinator with the use and maintenance of the Digital Print lab, Photography Studio. Video Studio, and Equipment Checkout.

The Digital Lab Assistant will be located primarily within the ECHO Equipment Checkout Office, room 2144.  Other areas of responsibility will be the Digital Print Lab in 2125, Video Studio in 2114, and Photography Studio in 2006.

$10/hour with most Assistants working between 6-10 hours a week.
