Moon Ride is an interactive installation, in which participants can hook their bikes onto generators to generate electricity that illuminates a balloon light hovering in the night sky. The cyclists’ effort determines the brightness of the balloon. Initially developed for the Diwali celebrations in Leicester, UK, the concept was later adapted for the opening of the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria (2006) as well as shows in different settings in Denmark and Poland until it was redesigned for the 2nd Kathmandu International Art Festival in Nepal (2012).
