Nancy Lorenz Exhibits at Pierre Marie Giraud

February 5, 2016

Nancy Lorenz (BFA 1985) will have her work exhibited at Pierre Marie Giraud from February 5 – March 5, 2016. Lorenz combines Post-War abstraction with materials from traditional Asian art. She lived in Tokyo for 5 years, where she gained an appreciation for materials such as mother-of-pearl inlay, lacquer, and Gold Leaf. After living in Japan, Lorenz earned a BFA in in Painting and Printmaking at the University of Michigan. She now lives and works in New York City. Her exhibit at Pierre Marie Giraud is titled “Boxes and Screens.” It features many of her pieces, including paulownia boxes covered in pigment, metal leaf, and aqua resin, as well as some covered in glass, mother-of-pearl inlay, and lacquer.

Pierre Marie Giraud is a gallery that specializes in unique pieces by international artists focusing in ceramics, glass and silver. Named for Pierre Maria Giraud, who is known worldwide for his expertise in ceramics, the gallery was founded in Brussels in 2005 and is housed in a nineteenth-century townhouse.
