Nothing can truly be great without a solid foundation, and schools are the foundation of this country. To make America great we must address the glaring discrepancy in opportunities between white students and students of color and find ways to advance public education for all rather than sustaining a model of success for a few. It has always been acceptable for the latter to have low achievement and be “failed forward”. Opportunities to innovate and create alternative methods of teaching have been ignored in a variety of systematic methods, fueling stereotypes in the classroom and community; all of this a direct result of generations of racism in our country. If nothing changes the conclusion is obvious, it is Simple Math.
