Mahendra Kumar is a long-term University of Michigan employee with over 30 years experience. Prior to joining the School of Art & Design in 2001, he served in various capacities at the UM, ranging from grants manager to senior financial manager at the University Hospitals and at the Institute of Social Research. Along the way, Kumar gained valuable experience in facilities renovation and management, information technology, and human resource services. This broad knowledge base continues to serve him well in his position as A&D’s administrative manager.
While having a full-time career at the University, Kumar graduated summa cum laude with graduate degrees in finance and accounting. He enjoys working with computers, designing databases, and learning new software programs, and strives to make business processes more efficient. In addition, he has a keen interest in learning about current educational and academic issues.
When not at work, Kumar explores digital photography and web site creation and enjoys reading books, listening to music, spending time with his family, and volunteering for social programs at his child’s school and in the local community.
