Biography

William Lovejoy is a noted researcher, educator and author whose research interests focus on managing across functional boundaries, innovation, and health care. In the health care arena he has published articles on effective patient-specific dosing of drug therapies, and operational papers on capacity expansion and operating room utilizations. In the innovation arena he has developed social network models of idea exchange. His historical research was in the area of capacity management and decision making with incomplete information and supply chain management and he has published numerous articles in top academic journals on these topics.

Lovejoy’s past editorial activities include Department Editor for the Operations and Supply Chains department of Management Science, and Senior Editor for Manufacturing and Services Operations Management.

Lovejoy has worked with companies on new product development, the management of innovation, and process assessment and improvement. He has taught course at all levels from bachelors to Ph.D. to Executives, and his new product development course (which he teaches jointly with the School of Engineering and the School of Art & Design) has enjoyed coverage by CNN, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and Businessweek.
