Curriculum Vitae

BFA Industrial Design, The Cleveland Institute of Art

Scott Dailey comes to the University of Michigan by way of Ohio, where he was raised in Columbus, and later graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2012 with a degree in Industrial Design.

Over the last four and a half years, he’s had the fortune of experiencing the role of design in both corporate and consultative settings, and arrives at the University of Michigan with enthusiasm for design’s ability to reinvigorate old ideas, inspire thoughtful new ones, and a strong curiosity for its broad applicability.

Most impactful to Scott’s experience as a designer has been a front-seat view to the fruits of collaboration. Working alongside talented peers in engineering, marketing, and business management proved the old adage “two heads are better than one” is especially true in problem-solving within and for complex organizations. He finds projects that involve divergent minds to not only be the most personally rewarding and engaging, but often the ones to bear the most thorough and useful outcomes.

The prospect of working in such a way as a means of growing as a designer amidst the breadth of knowledge and talent at the University of Michigan makes the Integrative Design program uniquely appealing to Scott, and he is excited to learn from and with his peers over the next two years.
