Biography

Rey Jeong is a visual artist from Seoul, Korea. Jeong connects with diverse communities and people-power by inviting others to shape and fill curated blank spaces. Recurring themes in her interactive installations include: unpredictability in form and outcome of work; mechanisms of dehumanization and structures of legitimation; and the seams between art and everyday life.

Jeong has a BFA in Animation from Sejong University and is currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her recent work includes Quality of Questions and 101 Ways to Lose Hope, projects in conversation with community participation. In Bad Seed, part of the Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor Festival at a local brewery, Jeong speaks to painful lived experiences and maintaining beauty/dignity in the face of brutal judgment.
