Brenna K. Murphy received her B.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004, and completed the Career Development Program at the Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia in 2010. She has exhibited widely throughout the U.S, as well as internationally in Nepal, China, and France. She has worked as an artist-in-residence at the CAMAC Art Centre and Cité Internationale des Arts in France, the Kathmandu Contemporary Art Centre in Nepal, and the Santa Fe Art Institute in New Mexico. She is the recipient of many awards and her work has been acquired by various collections, including the University of North Carolina and the West Collection. Employing so-called ‘women’s work’ techniques such as embroidery, weaving, and lace-making, Brenna's work has explored concepts of Home, the body, and material culture, and is currently focused on the process of grief and its relationship to object-making.
