Phoebe Gloeckner: Institute for the Humanities Faculty Fellow

Phoebe fellowship2015 16

Phoebe Gloeckner has been named a 2015 – 2016 Faculty Fellow in the UM Institute for the Humanities. The Institute’s Faculty Fellowship program provides faculty members with a release from teaching and service duties to pursue their research interests. Fellows are in residence at the Institute for the full academic year, becoming members of a vibrant interdisciplinary community of creators, scholars, and researchers. During her Fellowship, Phoebe will focus on developing print and electronic versions of her latest graphic novel. This long-term project — based on her research into the life and death of Nena Chavez Caldera, who was murdered in Cuidad Juárez at the age of fifteen — is informed through extensive travel and documentation of the life and culture along the US-Mexico border.
