Holly Hughes Produces Performance Pieces at Links Hall Chicago

Living Lakes

PERFORM MIDWEST, produced by Holly Hughes, presents two original performance pieces that remap the history and culture of the Midwest from the perspectives of diverse communities.

LIVING LAKES, created by Anita Gonzalez and Joel Valentin-Martinez rethinks the Great Lakes as sites of labor and leisure of black and brown people.

AFTER/LIFE, created by Lisa Biggs, retells the story of the 67 Detroit Uprising from the perspectives of women and girls.

Both projects were developed through a Global Midwest funding from the Humanities without Walls Consortium, supported by the Mellon Foundation.

Performances will take place at 7 pm on June 15, 16, and 17 at Links Hall in Chicago, 3111 N. Western Avenue.
