Louise Lutton: Upstream/Downstream

Louise Lutton

This piece was inspired by the women quilters of Gees Bend, Alabama. This isolated African American community was cut off from town via a ferry, oddly out of service during elections. Simple shapes and bold colors are what interests me.

This work is featured as part of the 2017 Alumni Exhibition: “Ambiguities/Innuendoes? Go Fish.”, on view at the Stamps Gallery in Ann Arbor. Check the exhibition page for dates, times, and hours.
