Gender variant or gender variance: a gender expression or behavior that does not conform to normative presentations of masculine and feminine

“THE GENDER VARIANT JACKET” is a tunable garment gender-variant folx (including but not limited to transgender, agender, gender non-binary, gender-nonconforming, and genderfluid identities) that will allow them to change presentation based on the silhouette of the garment.

As a gender non-binary person, I understand that INTENTIONALLY constructing garments that center other gender-variant people and their perspectives is THE ONLY CONSIDERATION.

My jacket employs top-stitching, a sewing technique that involved making rows of continuous stitches through multiple layers of fabric. Granted, a labor- and time-intensive process, but the work put into making the fabric is my activism and love made visible.

“THE GENDER VARIANT JACKET” is for all the gender-variant people who haven't had labor done for them.

“THE GENDER VARIANT JACKET” is for all the gender-variant people who have deserve to be centered.

This project is for all of you.
