Gotham Tea Set

I am a silversmith by trade. I've spent a long working life supporting my family with my craft. In this, the third act of my career, I live and work in New York. I created this series of pieces earlier this year for an invitational exhibition of 21st century silver at the Museum of the City of New York. I chose to use the New York skyline for inspiration because to me, buildings are containers. When I glance up beyond the grit and the striving at street-level, I admire the lovely sculpture each architect, from each era created to add to the skyline. This work is featured as part of Future Former: An Exhibition of Alumni Work. This exhibition honors the creative work and careers of all Stamps School alumni, creates an aspirational connection between generations of U-M artists and designers and current Stamps students, and inspires reflection during the university's Bicentennial year.
