FC St. Pauli 2017/18 Kits
Henry Adam Dougherty (BFA 2005)
FC St. Pauli is a very popular football club in Hamburg, Germany. The 2017/18 kit designs were inspired by the impressively creative murals covering the city and club's home pitch. Brush strokes and drips were used to link all 3 kits together in a cohesive graphic story. The home kit recreates the popular striped fan flags. The away kit mimics the colored bleachers in Millerntor-Stadion Stadium. The third kit is covered in a dripping camouflage print, which is littered with hidden jolly roger skulls (The club's tertiary logo). As an on-field graphic designer, i am tasked to create graphic stories for all of our soccer assets (College, retail and international) after my apparel designer is finished designing the garment.
This work is featured as part of Future Former: An Exhibition of Alumni Work. This exhibition honors the creative work and careers of all Stamps School alumni, creates an aspirational connection between generations of U-M artists and designers and current Stamps students, and inspires reflection during the university's Bicentennial year.
