Perhaps it's not just a fear of empty spaces... maybe it's a love of closeness.
I understand it's in the Starling's DNA to cozy up in rows. The flocks can be immense and are seen as pests in some settings. They often line the wires seen along the highway in vast numbers.
Ahhhh... the power of intimacy and love.
