Visu­al­iz­ing Ideas is an intro­duc­tory course to pre­pare stu­dents for a range of illus­tra­tion and visu­al­iza­tion courses in graphic nov­els, sci­en­tific illus­tra­tion, dig­i­tal paint­ing, dig­i­tal nov­els, and infor­ma­tion visu­al­iza­tion. It empha­sizes skills in the devel­op­ment of nar­ra­tives, com­plex ideas, and sequen­tial infor­ma­tion and trans­form­ing these sto­ries into com­pelling visual mate­r­ial. Stu­dents develop research skills to inves­ti­gate their con­tent, sto­ry­board­ing and draw­ing skills, and ren­der­ing skills in a vari­ety of two-dimen­sional media. FRE­QUENCY OF OFFER­ING: This course is typ­i­cally offered in both the fall and win­ter terms of every aca­d­e­mic year, though sched­ul­ing may vary accord­ing to future term circumstances.
