Description: The universe of creative podcast production is expanding by the minute. In this course students survey some of the most adventurous podcasts in terms of sound design and story craft, and they take a deep dive into making work of their own. Students learn basic digital audio skills (recording, editing, and multitrack mixing), develop creative audio stories in a range of forms (documentary, fictional, poetic, experimental), and explore how to frame and structure an episodic podcast. Students collaborate in small groups to create a pilot episode, and workshop their projects with guest podcast producers and sound artists. The semester’s work culminates in a public listening event.
Frequency: This course is offered occasionally in either the fall or winter term.
