Through intensive studio sessions, this course focuses on drawing a live model. Students investigate ways the figure is used and referenced in the work of contemporary artists, and they explore strategies for using the figure in drawings that are creative and expressive in nature. The goals of this course include gaining a better understanding of the figure and its significant role in the history of art, improving figure drawing skills, and pursuing unique methods of personal expression through the use of the figure in drawing and experimenting with various techniques. Student participation in all aspects of the course is required and is considered in the overall evaluation of class performance. FREQUENCY OF OFFERING: This course is offered occasionally in either the fall or the winter term.
