Fall 2021

Intro to Sculpture focuses on trends in sculpture and art practices from the end of WWII to the present. Students learn about form, context and concept, as well as histories and practices relevant to contemporary sculpture. They are trained in constructional methodologies (basic material and techniques for making sculptural objects), and develop their own sculptural practices through both directed and independent projects. They also encounter sculpture on campus as well as during a field trip to Meijer Sculpture Gardens as an important part of the coursework. FREQUENCY OF OFFERING: This course is typically offered in the fall term of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
