Stamps invites you to be a member of an interdisciplinary student team participating in the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Plaza & Midtown Cultural Connections International Student Design Competition and Summit. Students registered for this unique course will have the extraordinary opportunity to engage in a design competition already attracting well-regarded design professionals representing over ten countries and 22 cities from around the world!¶¶The objective of this course is 'to envision the museum’s future through the lens of CONNECTIVITY.' How might the DIA and the surrounding educational and cultural institutions utilize their shared connections to enhance and enliven the visitor experience in the arts and cultural district?¶¶Through this course, the student team will participate in the Summit Kickoff at the DIA and a professional design charrette, meet with and get perspectives from stakeholders and professional designers, participate in workshops with practitioners, develop a design strategy to connect all 12 educational and cultural institutions in Midtown Detroit, participate in a design team showcase and celebration, and, if selected, present conceptual plans to a jury and the general public!¶
