Prerequisites: All OF THE FOLLOWING: ARTDES 300: Any 300 Level Studio.
Senior Independent Studio provides an opportunity for deeper skill building within the student’s medium of choice. Students develop self-directed creative work as part of a structured community of feedback from peers, faculty, and invited experts. Over the course of a semester, students research the culture and expectations of a professional/creative community that is relevant for their practice. They gain a practical understanding of the expectations within that context and how to present their work and generate professional opportunities. The course culminates with each student producing at least one portfolio-quality work targeted towards the professional community that they have identified. Students have access to classroom space, regular one-on-one consultations with faculty, and regular critiques from peers, faculty, and occasional visiting critics. This course is typically offered in both the fall and winter terms of every academic year, though scheduling may vary according to future term circumstances.
