Dean Guna Nadara­jan moderates a dis­cus­sion with a small panel of Stamps alumni who will share their pro­fes­sional jour­ney and pro­vide insights into the way that hir­ing prac­tices have shifted both since they entered the work­force and again since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stamps @ Home Dis­cus­sion with the Dean: Creative Career Trajectories

This Discussion with the Dean highlights the various Creative Career Trajectories Stamps alums pursue with their art and design education. The conversation focuses on how Stampers past and present have leveraged their interdisciplinary education to break into non-traditional career paths, such as alternative energy technologies, music and audiovisual solutions, and much more. Dean Guna Nadara­jan moderates a dis­cus­sion with a small panel of Stamps alums who share their professional journeys and offer insight into their success, followed by breakout sessions where participants engage directly with the panelists and ask questions.

This is an excit­ing effort to bring together alumni with an expansive array of skills and experience across various disciplines for an inspiring, engaging, and educational conversation.

Creative Conversations with Professor Audrey Bennett

May 11, 2021 from 12 – 1:00 pm

Join Stamps Professor Audrey Bennett for a live interview with Jane Prophet, Associate Dean for Research, Creative Practice and Strategic Initiatives. Bennett is the current MDes Program Director and a graphic design scholar who studies cross-cultural and trans-disciplinary design. In this interview, she will discuss the ways that she is using design and design research to address issues of equity and access in communities in the state of Michigan, including Detroit. Bennett will take questions from the audience in a live Q&A as part of this event.

Sustainability and Art & Design

Here at Stamps, we believe in the value of creative practice as an engine for cultural and social change. That’s why a panel of alumni and students are convening to discuss responsible production, affordable clean creation, infrastructure and innovation in the industry, and overall sustainability and social responsibility in art and design in this virtual celebration of Earth Day.

Current student and Stamps M‑Bassador Sarah Pisarczyk (BFA 23) joins as the emcee, and the event is moderated by Professor Joseph E. Trumpey, Associate Professor of Art, Environment, and Natural Resources and Director, Sustainable Living Experience.

A Conversation with Artists from the Exhibition Story, Word, Sound, Sway

Four Stamps School alumni artists discuss the ways their creative work challenges the status quo and the role that artists play in breaking down the walls of oppression and injustice. The artists are featured in the Stamps Gallery exhibition Story, Word, Sound, Sway, exploring subjects of alternative histories, Black identity, and storytelling; meshing performance and performativity, and the interplay of the oral and aural in one’s experience of the world.

Virtual Forum on Race, Justice, and Equity: 10/9/2020

A panel of Stamps students and alumni share the ways that they are pursuing racial justice, tackling systemic racism, and making a difference within their creative fields.
