a collaborative project from UM School of Art & Design and Michigan Public Media
Transforming the Gallery Space for time-based Media
PLAY IS…. television momentarily transformed into a gallery space, as experimental shorts from the A&D community are broadcast in between regular programming on Michigan Television and Michigan Channel.
PLAY IS… a tv intervention, bringing performance art, animation and video to the in-between spaces of the broadcast spectrum.
WATCH TONIGHT FOR PLAY’S DEBUT on PBS, WFUM (CH. 24) with Melanie Manos and the Oscillettes at 8:56pm, right after Secrets of the Dead Part 2, and again at 11:56pm.
ALSO ON MICHIGAN CHANNEL (CH. 22) at 6:56pm after Charlie Rose and 10:56pm after Mosaic.
WAIT, THERE’S MORE…
PLAY is also a virtual gallery on the web: www.playgallery.org. See shorts currently in rotation on TV and web-only videos. Find out more about PLAY, the pieces, the artists, leave a comment on a video, and more. And, check out our parallel gallery site on YouTube.
Watch for additional PLAY shorts by the following artists to debut on Michigan Television PBS, WFUM at 8:56pm on Sundays and Tuesdays (with repeat airings at unexpected times throughout the week) AND on the Michigan Channel (Ch. 22) every day at 6:56pm and again at 10:56pm. For schedule details, visit www.playgallery.org.
