Maryanne Ellison Simmons’ Wildwood Press at Ink Miami Art Fair
Master printmaker and founder of Wildwood Press, Maryanne Ellison Simmons (BFA 1971), has partnered with artists Damon Davis, Xiaoze Xie, and Mary Judge to exhibit their recent collaborations as part of the Ink Miami Art Fair from December 2 – 6 in Miami, Florida.
The event will feature important new work from Davis. Davis and Simmons showed their collaborative prints in the exhibition All Hands on Deck that ran earlier this year in St. Louis. Davis’ project began following the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. He took photos of the hands of individuals who contributed to the movement to protect human rights, and he turned the photos into posters, which have been hung throughout St. Louis and beyond. Davis’ goal is to spread the message of hope to fight racial inequality.
Also appearing in the Wildwood Press exhibit will be an extraordinary new suite of four prints by Xie as well as a new release of Judge’s Rose Window Series.
